PR Coaching – The Super Bowl and the Olympics
With the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics around the corner and the Pro Bowl just happened seemed like a good time to talk about coaching!
I'm sure you have a comment or two on the training in Miami and you will see what will be on top of snowy mountains in Canada.
In the field of public relations there are coaches going. Before the "game". During the game, and very importantly, after the game – to get ready for the next activity. Coaching is often between the client and public relations expert. Furthermore, between the PR and the client and / or owner concerned.
Here are 3 tips that can integrate public relations coaching. Please add a comment on this list is not complete.
1. Listen, listen, listen! I know it's hard to do as some people can walk …. HA, not, right? I worked for a boss once told me it would help if I have heard all the way to the end, before commenting. He said: "Often, you'll learn something just before the person finishes a thought." That was good advice. In talking with clients I know you might want to delete as you think you know where to go and what they need to guide them. My advice: just hang in there, as is the value of your time.
2. Encourage. Here is a brief list:
• A simple smile
• Or, the words "Thanks!"
• A pat on the back
Easy to write but difficult for some people to perform. I try to encourage my clients to be honest and open with me. When we succeed then provide a positive comment.
3. Be inclusive. Being involved in a project, issue or activity from start to finish I think it is better that you play in the 3rd quarter. Much has happened so it is more difficult to achieve a goal.
So as you watch the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics look closely at training. You'll find some useful tips on how to deal with people.
